Best Bachelorette Party Hot Spots: Finger Lakes, NY

Aug 12, 2009

The Finger Lakes region of New York state is one of the most beautiful areas of the Northeast United States, and is home to breathtaking landscapes, tons of great wineries, and of course soothing lakes. Bachelorettes looking for nightclubs might want to choose a different location, but if you and the girls are looking to feel relaxed, refreshed, and of course have a bit of wine-filled fun, the Finger Lakes are for you.

Where To Sleep: There’s tons of chain hotels in the Finger Lakes, from Best Western’s to Holiday Inn’s, but we recommend choosing a relaxed bed and breakfast or a local-run hotel. Many wineries have hotels as well, so that can be a great way to experience delicious wines and food without having to drive anywhere. Check out the FingerLakes.org Accomodations page for an excellent list of places to stay.

Where To Nosh: A dinner cruise is a must - imagine enjoying a fun dinner in a beautiful cruise boat while having beautiful scenery right outside your window! There’s tons of restaurants, pubs, and taverns in the Finger Lakes, so we recommend simply walking down the street and seeing what piques your interest.

Where To Chill: Mmm, retail therapy in beautiful boutiques and walking through the pretty parks and trails. Now that’s our favorite way to chill!

Where To Go Wild: Have no fear, there’s a great variety of charming and very fun pubs and taverns in the Finger Lakes. We also recommend visiting a winery during the day, buying a few bottles of delicious wine, having dinner, and bringing the wine back to your room for you and the girls! Bring along 1,000 Drinking Games for some fun.

The Finger Lakes is a truly beautiful area, and will likely make for an unforgettable bachelorette getaway! Have a great time!

Rise and Shine, Beautiful!

Aug 4, 2009

Think bachelorette parties can only take place at nightime? Thing again - morning bachelorette parties can provide both relaxation and fun, and are a great way to separate your bachelorette party from the pack. Here’s some ways to add energy to your morning bachelorette party and send those yawns away!

Be Pampered - Mmm, imagine waking up, throwing on some sweats, some nicer clothes in a gym bag, and heading to a spa to fully wake up. This can be a reality - book early morning massage appointments for your girls, and they’ll be able to wake up to a relaxing massage, steam room, and a shower that will have them ready for the day!

Brunch - Brunch is one of our favorite words. Whoever thought to combine the delicious cuisine of breakfast and lunch is an absolute genius in our eyes. After the pampering, take your girls out for a swanky brunch at a country club or a pretty restaurant in your area. Enjoy coffee, mimosasand bloody mary’s, and feel free to linger over brunch.

Spend time outside - If you’re having a spring or summer morning bachelorette party, go for a walk outside with your girls or even spend time on the golf course or driving range. If you’re lucky enough, relax poolside or even at the beach, and you’ll surely have a lovely day.

And hey, if your morning bachelorette party turns into nighttime fun, there’s no harm in that!

Drink Up With The Glow in the Dark Dicky Sipper

Aug 4, 2009

Having a few drinks at your bachelorette party? Why not sip them out of a penis?! (A question we ask ourselves all the time, hehe.)

The Glow in the Dark Dicky Sipper is a plastic penis-looking 13 oz. sports bottle with a very large penis head, with a straw attached. Don’t worry, it’s glow-in-the-dark, so it’ll be visible in even the most darkly lit clubs and bars! It’s only $7.49, cheaper than the price of most drinks, and the pictures of the bachelorette and her maids sipping out of this naughty novelty will be absolutely priceless.

Your bachelorette party will be even more saucy with the Dicky Sipper. You can thank us when you see the photos the next day ;-)

Bachelorette Party T-Shirts Add To The Excitement

Jul 21, 2009

Nothing is off limits at a bachelorette party, even dressing alike! It’s fun to show off your bachelorette party status and make sure everyone knows it’s your bachelorette party. Making shirts is a great way to do this, and here’s some ways to funk up t-shirts:

Professionally-Made - There’s tons of online t-shirt companies out there who will print whatever you’d like on t-shirts. We suggest hot pink t-shirts with black lettering, and of course all matching! Check out this fun group of bachelorettes on the CustomInk.com blog:

Glitter - If you and your bridesmaids are girly girls, buy a few blank t-shirts or tank tops, and get fabric glitter pens! Write whatever saucy sayings you’d like, and you’ll of course need to put a few naughty drawings on the bachelorette’s shirt.

Photo Shirts - Have a picture of all the girls together? Take it to your local photo store, and you can get t-shirts printed with the photo right on it!

Matching shirts may not be the trendiest fashion items out there, but they do make for a very fun time. Each bachelorette will of course need to have a sexy man Bachelorette Party Pin to wear on their shirt, and that same devilish grin on their face. ;-)

When Should I Have My Bachelorette Party?

Jul 16, 2009

Many movies and tv shows show the bachelorette party festivities happening the night before the wedding, but if you’re having an early or mid-day wedding, you might want to get to sleep early the night before. Here’s some options for when to have your bachelorette party!

A Month Before - If you’re having out of town friends or relatives at your bachelorette party, you may want to plan your bachelorette party about a month in advance. This gives everyone ample time to plan your bachelorette party and make travel arrangements to come into town. By having the bachelorette party a month prior to your wedding, you’re also giving them enough time to plan for your actual wedding day, as well!

An Ongoing Party - Who says your bachelorette party only has to last one weekend or one night? Enjoy being a bachelorette and ease all that wedding planning stress by having a regular outing with the girls each month while you’re planning your wedding. This way, you can spend time with your friends, keep your sanity, and have all the different types of bachelorette parties you’ve been reading about on the blog!

The Weekend Before - Having your bachelorette party the weekend before your wedding will typically give you enough time to rest and relax before the wedding, especially if you’re planning quite the wild time. We recommend going away for the weekend to a fun bachelorette party hotspot for a girl’s weekend!

The Day Before - We don’t recommend planning a wild night out right before your wedding day, but we do suggest getting your mind off of the wedding details and spending the day with your bridesmaids at a spa orĀ  going shopping for honeymoon clothes during the day.

Bachelorettes, when will you be having your bachelorette party?

Take A Walk Down The Aisle in The Pecker Wedding Veil

Jul 10, 2009

…Or maybe not! Great for bachelorette parties but perhaps not ideal for the wedding day itself, The Pecker Wedding Veil is one saucy item. The pretty white veil is adorned with flashing, multi-colored peckers to attract attention to the bride-to-be and maybe add a little blush to her cheeks, but all in fun of course! After all, she’ll only be seeing one pecker for all those hot nights to come, so surround her with as many as possible at her bachelorette party (on the veil, of course).

It’s on sale right now for only $12.95, and will surely be one of the highlights of the bachelorette party. It’s such a kitschy product, which makes it all the better and more fun. Just don’t accidentally switch the real veil for this on your wedding day!

Girl’s Night In Martini Recipes

Jul 1, 2009

Martinis are just….mmm! They’re an adult girl’s night in staple, and are perfect for bachelorette parties. If you want to have a bachelorette party or girl’s night that’s more affordable than going out to bars and having to hire a driver (no drinking and driving!), this is the perfect party idea for you. If you and the girls like to dress up, ask everyone to wear a cute dress, and you can serve more sophisticated hor d’oeuvres, or just keep it relaxed with pizza and snacks. No matter what, it’s the people at the party that count (and a few tasty martinis don’t hurt!).

Here’s some great bachelorette party martini recipes:

Flirtini Martini
1 1/2 oz. Vodka
1/2 oz. Champagne
Pineapple Juice
Slice of lime
Pineapple Slice

You’ll need a chilled martini glass. You can either pre-chill your glass in the fridge, or simply place a few ice cubes in the glass before you pour the drink in. Once chilled, combine all the ingredients in a martini shaker with crushed ice, and shake. Strain the mix into your martini glass and garnish with the slice of lime and pineapple.

Naughty Martini Recipe
2 oz. Raspberry Vodka
1/2 oz. Triple Sec
1/2 oz. Cranberry Juice
Splash of lime juice
Fresh blackberries

Combine all ingredients in a martini shaker with crushed ice, and shake. Pour into a chilled martini glass and garnish with the fresh blackberries. Enjoy!

Foxy Lady Martini
1 oz. Amaretto
1 oz. Dark Creme de Cacao
1 oz. Double Cream

Mix all ingredients in a martini shaker with ice and shake. Strain into a martini glass, and indulge!

Cosmobellini Recipe
1 oz. Citrus Vodka
1/2 oz. Orange Liqueur
1 lime wedge
1 Splash Cranberry Juice
1/2 oz White Peach Puree
Prosecco sparkling wine (or other sparkling wine)

Pour the citrus vodka and cointreau into a martini shaker. Squeeze the juice from one lime wedge into the shaker, and add the peach puree, a splash of cranberry juice, and shake. Strain into a cocktail glass, top off with prosecco, and have a lovely evening!

As long as you have the right people along, staying at home is never a bore! Throwing a girl’s night in or bachelorette party at home is a cinch - just invite the girls, play some music, make or buy hor d’oeuvres, get the Light Up Pecker Shot Glasses, and supply the drinks. You can ask your girls to bring some of the ingredients for them, too. We don’t think you’ll run out of topics to talk about!
